Man Utd dealt fresh injury blow as star pulls out of international duty | Football

Manchester United have been dealt yet another injury blow amid concerns around Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Benjamin Sesko.

Rashford and Mainoo were both named in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad but could now pull out, with the former dealing with a hip problem.

Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer is set to withdraw from the Three Lions, with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs White to replace him.

Sesko did not travel for Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham, with Michael Carrick revealing that the Slovenia striker is suffering from a recurrence of the shin injury he picked up last season.

Now, in more concerning news, goalkeeper Karl Darlow has withdrawn from the Wales squad for their upcoming Nations League matches.

The announcement was made on Monday morning, with Leicester City’s David Cornell called up by Craig Bellamy to replace the 35-year-old.

Darlow moved to Old Trafford on a free transfer from Leeds United over the summer and made his debut in the Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton last week.

It is not clear what injury he has suffered, as Darlow was on the bench against Fulham just 24 hours ago.

While not an immediate crisis as Senne Lammens is firmly United’s No.1, a Darlow injury could prove very problematic as third-choice keeper Tom Heaton is also sidelined with an ankle injury.

The three-week international break may give players enough time to recover, with Carlos Baleba, Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt all expected to be back to full fitness.

Wales face Portugal, Norway and Denmark twice over the September/October break.

After winning just one of their opening five Premier League games, United’s first game after the break against win-less Tottenham has now become must-win.
