Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo ahead of the transfer deadline, according to reports.

United have so far prioritised signings in central midfield, with Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Carlos Baleba all arriving from Premier League rivals.

But with a few days left of the summer transfer window, the Red Devils may now look to address other areas of their squad, particularly after their 2-0 defeat to Hull City on opening weekend.

And according to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, United have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea centre-back Tosin as a rotation option with Michael Carrick’s squad.

The 28-year-old has made 38 Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer in 2024.

However, Tosin was not named in the Blues’ matchday squad for the 3-2 win over his former side Fulham on Monday.

Tosin was close to joining United back in 2024 before opting to sign for the Blues. Speaking at the time, he said:’Once I knew Chelsea were interested, I was fully focused on that.

‘When it came down to it, to hear the project that’s going on here, it’s amazing. It’s an amazing project, an amazing club, so for me it was a no-brainer.’

Chelsea have already strengthened their options at centre-back this summer with the signing of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for £52million.

And the Blues are now closing in on a deal to sign young Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor for a fee of around £30m.

United, meanwhile, have also been keen to sign a left-back this summer to provide cover and competition for Luke Shaw.

And former Red Devils midfielder Bryan Robson believes the club should still pursue a deal for Lewis Hall despite Newcastle United’s insistence that the 21-year-old is not for sale.

‘If you stay in the Cup competitions and you’ve got the Champions League, you’ve got a lot of games in the season, and so you more or less always have to have two players who are decent in the same position,’ he told talkSPORT.

‘Luke Shaw is a terrific player, but Hall would be a good addition to our squad.

‘But you never know with his [financial] fair play and everything whether you’ve got the money to buy somebody like him when you’ve just spent £70million [on Baleba].

‘We’ve spent money before that, so it’s a balancing act in where you think it’s most important.’

Elsewhere, United are also looking to move some players on before the deadline, with Joshua Zirkzee closing in on a move to Fiorentina.

The Dutch striker was close to joining Juventus earlier in the summer, but now looks set to join their Serie A rivals on an initial loan with the option to make the move permanent next summer.
